INTRODUCTION
Viljoen is a well known surname of Huguenot origin. Every one born with this surname is a descendant of the founding parents, Francois Villion and Cornelia Campenaar, who were married at the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, in 1676.
The original spelling of the surname changed from the original Villion or Vilion to Viljon and the present spelling, Viljoen.
The vast majority of Viljoens are to be found in South Africa (an estimated 25 000 living descendants), but the surname has spread to the rest of Africa, United States (an estimated 200 desendants), Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
